He was predeceased by: his parents, George Muma and Esther Muma (Lee); and his brother Charlie Muma. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Baker of Wheatland, WY.; his children, Lenny Muma (Bonnie LaFemina) of Naples, Mitch Muma of Lexington, NE, Becky Lemon Muma of Omaha, NE, Chad Muma (Kerri Thomsen) of Hickman, NE and KayCee Neil (Dan) of Lincoln, NE; his grandchildren, Chase Muma (Lisa Herman), Libby Muma (Adrian Dimitrov), Dallon, Sadye Lemon, Madison, Jenna, Kylie, Owen Muma, Thomas and Sammi Neil; his great grandchild Theo Dimitrov; and his siblings, Georgia (Carl Vondra), Richard Muma (Lavonne Campbell) and Mary Ann Spearman. He is also survived by five children, ten grandchildren and one great-grand son.

In Lieu of flowers, any memorials in Jay's honor are suggested to the Nebraska Sports Hall of Fame.
