He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton P. Brecka and Barbara Brecka (Roubal); his parents-in-law, Joe and Della Novak; his grandson Cameron Brecka; his siblings, Eugene Brecka and Betty Stara; his brother-in-law Alvern Hlavac; and his niece Monica Saalfeld.
He is survived by: his wife Elaine Novak; his children, Gail Wilkinson (Todd) of Lincoln, Denise Shirley (Phil) of Lincoln, Greg Brecka (Carrie) of Dwight, Dan Brecka (Gena) of Dwight, Jean Frager (Rick) of Lincoln, Becky Mottl (Matt) of Palmer and Ashley Cihal (Jeremy) of Dwight; his grandchildren, Morgan, Tyler Shirley, Addie, Trevin Brecka, Brayden Brecka, Sydney, Anna Jelinek, Isabella, Braden, Brecken Frager, Makenna, Lane, Ella, Hayes, Wyatt Mottl, Cecilia and Colson Cihal; and his sisters, Joan Svoboda (Valerian) and Maggie Hlavac. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
