He was predeceased by: his father Raymond Ortmeier; and his great-niece Karsyn Kaup. He is survived by: his mother Lorraine Ortmeier (Knust) of Dodge; and his siblings, Donna Hagedorn (Dean) of Dodge, Linda Kaup (Tom) of Fremont, Lois Bracht (Tom) of West Point, Janis Dirkschneider (Kenny) of Scribner, Susie Kaup (Bob) of West Point, Sharon Schroeder (Ron) of Leigh, Andy (Kathy) of Dodge, Mike (Jane) of North Bend and Tom (Jolene) of Columbus. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Dodge Fire and Rescue or St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
