He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Schuerman and Esther Schuerman (Burger); his parents-in-law, Lester and Mildred Guenther; his brothers-in-law, Dean Spilker and Arzie Kelly; and his nephew David Butler.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Guenther; his daughters, Becky (Howard Choi) of Plano, TX and Jane (Greg Robb) of Doniphan, NE; his grandchildren, John and Talking; his son John of Clatonia, NE; his granddaughters, Haley, Avery, Ashley Robb and Greta Choi; his sisters, Loretta Kelly Frye (Fred) and Deana Kaspar (Al); and his sister-in-law Sue Ann McMillan (Roger). He is also survived by two nieces and two nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Association or Saline County Aging Services in Wilber with the funeral home in charge.
