She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Shandera and Mary Shandera (Kovar); and her brothers, Leonard and Bobby Shandera. She is survived by: her husband Henry Bals; her children, Susan (Douglas Whitman), Patricia (Roger Severson), Linda (Tim Edwards), Bill Bals, Ellen Gohlke of Cave Creek, AZ, Judy (Steve Sinkule), Chris (Tom Schleich), Shelly (Kent Weilage), Lori Bals of Lafayette, CO and Jimmy (Stacia Bals); her siblings, Dennis Shandera of Lincoln, NE, Arlene Valenta of Wilber, NE, Bette Neddenriep of Houston, TX and Maxine Scherzinger of Vail, AZ; and her siblings-in-law, Marlene Bals of Crete, NE and Gene Bals of Texas. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. James Elementary School in Crete, NE or to the Crete Volunteer Rescue Squad.
