He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Sr. Hayes and Dorothy Hayes (Kempke). He is survived by: his wife Janice Whisinand; his children, Gary Hayes (Theresa), James Hayes, Michael Hayes, Debra Bell and Pamela Bullis; and his brother Larry Hayes. He is also survived by Eight Sisters, 15 grandchildren and 37 great- grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
