He was predeceased by: his mother Sharon K. Schmidt (Mann); and his grandparents, Ray and Felicitis Schmidt. He is survived by: his father Rodney Schmidt of St. Helena; his wife Angie Mech; his children, Hannah Kay Schmidt and Zackary Steffan; his stepchildren, Tim Mech (Melody) of Kansas, Cassondra Barnt (Toby) of South Bend, Krystal Lohff (Lee) of Sioux Falls, Nicholas Mech of College Station, Texas, Brianna Glover (Mitch) of Yankton, Willie Mech of Lincoln, Nebraska and Jonathan Mech (Jessica) of Sioux City, Iowa; his sister Cheri Rogers (Don) of Wausa, Nebraska; his nieces, Abby Williams (Chris) of Fayetteville, Christine and Carry Lee Martinson of Wausa; and his nephew Cory Martinson of Wayne. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Avera Majestic Bluffs to be used in the kitchen.
