He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Opkis and Ruth Opkis (Stacken); his stepfather Hans Wagner; his stepbrother Charles Wagner; and his great-niece Lexis Abbenhaus.
He is survived by: his sister Kay (Jim Abbenhaus) of Creighton; and his nieces and nephews, Joe, Andrea Abbenhaus of Bloomfield, Jeff, Debbie Abbenhaus of Bloomfield, Terry and Traci Gall of Basehor, Kansas.
