He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Gerdes and Lavone Gerdes (Trimble); and his brothers, Kenneth and Orville (LeRoy). He is survived by: his daughters, Dena (Joshua) of Cozad Ne and Jessica (Darren) of Grand Island; his great grandchild Jaxson of Grand Island; and his siblings, Connie of Friend and Dallas (Becky) of Oconto. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
