He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Cañas and Eremene Cañas (Lopez); his son Clemente; and his siblings, Jose Cañas, Ismael Cañas, Esther Lopez and Rebecca Guerra.
He is survived by: his children, Estella Beenblossom (Rex Crisman) of Gothenburg, Raquel Crick (Doug) of Cozad, Arturo Cañas of Cozad and Carmela "Coco" Cañas of Cozad; his close friend Valente of Mickies; and his friend Joe Herrera of Corpus Christi, TX..
