Evelyn Effken Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Evelyn Effken (Cook, Nebraska), who passed away on April 7, 2021, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Dieckgrafe and Nanka Dieckgrafe (Damme); her husband John Effken; her siblings, Eldon Dieckgrafe (Jean), Charles Dieckgrafe (Margorie) and Helen Stinson (Don); and her brothers-in-law, William Effken and Theodore Effken.
She is survived by: her children, Sarah Purcell (Carl) of Cook and David Effken (Kellie) of Lincoln; her grandchildren, Laura Purcell M. D., Michael Purcell, Danielle Burbach (Tyler), Erica McClure (Logan) and Cassandra Effken; her great grandchildren, Evelyn "Evie" and Hazel Burbach; her sister-in-law Jean Effken; and her close friend Jan Augustyn. She is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews; and numerous friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the UNMC College of Nursing and the Cook Rescue Squad.
