He was predeceased by: his parents, William Harms and Amelia Abendroth Harms. He is survived by: his sons, Robert Harms Jr. and Randy Harms; his grandchildren, Jeremy Harms (Candace), Brandon Harms (Nikki), Cody Harms (Jodi), Colby Harms and Samantha Schaffer (Jarod); and his great grandchildren, Kordell Lovitt, Delilah Schaffer and Penelope Schaffer.
