He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Bernhardt Jr. and Mollie Bernhardt (Mitchell); his wife Betty Joann Williams of Imperial, NE; his brother Johnnie; his sister-in-law Ruth Bernhardt; his sisters, Lillian, Pat Trocolla, Bernice and Red Bettger; his parents-in-law, Philip and Pauline Williams; his nephew Kenny Williams; his niece Rene Johnson; his children, Kerry Bernhardt of Champion, NE, Kurt Bernhardt (Kristi) of Lamar, NE. and Darcy Bernhardt (Joe Mooney) of Ft. Myers; his grandchildren, Preston Bernhardt, Alexa Banks (Jeff), Austin Bernhardt and Ryan Bernhardt; and his great grandchild Cameron Banks Many. He was also cherished by the youngest of four children, having two older sisters and one brother.
A memorial, in Donnie's memory, has been suggested to the Chase County Hospital Foundation, Imperial, NE.
