He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie "Bud" Ouderkirk and Alice Mae Ouderkirk (Houser). He is survived by: his wife Kimberly Dawn Bibbey; and his siblings, Sharon Sotvick (Jesse) of Shoshone, Nila Clifton (Dan) of Casper, James Dean Ouderkirk of Springdale and Scot Ouderkirk (Lisa) of Bayard, Nebraska.. He is also survived by his in-laws, two aunts, three uncles, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial has been established for the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain Chapel.
