He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Johnson and Lorette Johnson; his sister RoJane; his brother-in-law Howard "Tiny" Witcombe; his nephew Shawn Witcombe; and his nephew-in-law Todd Johnson.
He is survived by: his siblings, Harlan Johnson (Sharon) of Ceresco, Sheral Johnson (Earl) of Lincoln and Linda Schwartz (Fred) of Lincoln; his nieces and nephews, Shelley Witcombe (Don Bossung), Scott Witcombe, Shane Witcombe, David Johnson (Sue), Julie Ferri (Mark), Sheri Ryan (Bill), Andi Johnson, Dee Dee Long (Louis), Lynn Schwartz-Primmer and Jim Schwartz; and his close friend Bette Nygren. He is also survived by other relatives and numerous friends.
Memorials may be made to Evangelical Covenant Church, People's City Mission – Lincoln, Open Door Mission – Omaha, or Luther Heritage Scholarship Fund at Midland University – Fremont.
