Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Mona Gavin of Callaway, Nebraska, born in Huron, South Dakota, who passed away at the age of 85, on April 22, 2025. She was predeceased by: her parents, Eugene William Van Doren and Marjorie Ruth Gilchrist; her husband Robert Keith Gavin; and her children, Kelley Jo Gavin and Todd Martin Gavin.
She is survived by: her sons, Tim and Troy; her sisters, Tina Barrett of Callaway, Christina Wilkinson (Tim) of Orange City, FL, Tycen Gavin (Christina) of Ogallala, NE, Lindsi Gavin (Carlos) of Cozad, NE, Colt Corbin (Ryley) of Sargent, NE, Jayme Box (Aaron) of Grand Island, NE and Hannah Tillinghast of Grand Island, NE; and also, Julie Gavin of Sargent, NE and Jill Gavin of Grand Island, NE. She is also survived by many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, April 30th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Calendar Callaway Community Church (705 E Stebbins St, Callaway, NE 68825). The military honors will be held on Wednesday, April 30th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery (12004 South Spur 56a, Maxwell, NE 69151).
Memorials are suggested to the Callaway Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department where Mona served for many years as an EMT and whose selfless volunteers have responded to the Gavin house many times over the years.
