Dustin Jo Shaw Obituary

Dustin Jo Shaw, 28, of Cairo, formerly of Grand Island, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 10, 2018.

Service and celebration of Dustin's life will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church. A visitation will be at the church from 5-7 p.m. Monday. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Those who will forever cherish his memory include his father, Russell Shaw of Grand Island; stepmom, Tara Edwardson of Grand Island; mother, Shelly Gregg of Grand Island; love of his life and mother of his girls, Kristen Gauthier of Cairo; his beloved girls, Lexi Jo Norton, Millie Kay Shaw and Margot Else Shaw; brothers, Walker Shaw and Kaden Shaw of Grand Island and Tristan Kowalski of Ord; sister, Breanna Gregg of Alda; sister, Heather Haynes of Grand Island; step-brothers, Brayden and Caleb Edwardson of Grand Island; paternal grandparents, Terry and Clarice Shaw; maternal grandparents, Loren and Lynne Ilg; and a host of good friends.

Dustin was born November 15, 1989 in Grand Island. As he grew up he loved playing baseball as his dad coached him, riding horses and was active in 4-H. He was confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in 2004 and graduated from Northwest High School, class of 2008. He joined the United States Army Reserves at the age of 17. He was very proud to have served his country and loved the time he spent in Germany where he was deployed.

Dustin began working with his father in the plumbing business at an early age. He then was employed by a couple of plumbers in the area and received his Master's License. Most recently, he was the proud co-owner of Shaw Enterprises, the business he shared with his brother, Walker. That was a dream of his and was so excited to have had that opportunity to share it with him.

Dustin had a never-ending zest for life and a desire to help. Most recently he was an organ donor which will provide a gift to many people and will allow his spirit to live on. Having trained as a fireman when he was in the Army Reserves, allowed him to later serve with his father for a time on the Grand Island Rural Volunteer Fire Department.

Dustin had a love for his daughters that was unexplainable. He was strong enough to protect them but a gentle teddy bear to show them a love that only came from their daddy. The way he held them, played with them and talked with them with so much love was so amazing to watch.

Other than his love for his family, his biggest passion was working out at the Feel Fit Gym with his dad and brother Walker. He loved to challenge them and push them to reach their goals. Most importantly he loved just hanging out with them and all the close friends he made at the gym, as they were all part of his family.

Dustin was a wonderful father, son, brother and friend. He made the most of life and was an example to all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Dustin's family to be designated at a later date.
