He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Ellwanger (Bob) and Irene Ellwanger (Greeno); and his sister Janice Crouse. He is survived by: his wife Dorrinda; his children, Dorrann Hultman (Scott) of Hastings, DaNay Kalkowski (Tim) of Lincoln, DeEtt Ellwanger of Hastings, Daylee (Rey) and Dale Ellwanger, Jr. (Alandrea) of Eagle; his grandchildren, Terry (Danielle), Phillip Hultman (Brittany), Kade (Bailey), Taryn Kalkowski, Dashia, Trent, LaKeshia, Hadley and Hayes Ellwanger; his great grandchildren, Brooklynn Peshek, Andrik Sorrells, Monroe, Skylar, Sawyer and Sterling Hultman; his siblings, Gary Ellwanger (Lois) of Gretna, Carol Olson (Carroll) of Atkinson, Darol Ellwanger (Becky) of Norfolk, Anita Liewer (Merle) of Atkinson, Richard Ellwanger (Jan) of Butte and Shari Fox (Joel) of Stanton; and his brother-in-law Butch Crouse. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials to Camp Witness or Butte Community Bible Church.
