He was predeceased by: his parents, Don Dirks and Lola Dirks (Wilkening); his sister Deb Dirks; his stepfather Vernon Johnson; his grandparents, Eldon, Amalia "Mollie" Dirks, Edward and Alma Wilkening; his father-in-law Robert Norder; and his cousin Dave Swanson.
He is survived by: his wife Michelle Dirks (Norder) of Bruning, Nebraska; his children, Bethany Swafford (Jason) of Scandia, Taylor Dirks (Brooke) of Bruning and Halsey Gorecki (Matt) of Dannebrog, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Mallory, Judson, Tayvin, Lucas, Jensen, Aiden, Adalynn and Aimes; his sisters, Deanna Dirks of Hastings and Denise Packard (Sam) of Lincoln, Nebraska; his mother-in-law Jean Norder of Mobridge; and his brothers-in-law, Mike Norder (Jessie) of Mobridge and Mitch Norder (Allison) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is also survived by other family members and friends.
