He was predeceased by: his parents, Cornelius Murphy and Laura Murphy; and his brothers, James and Paul. He is survived by: his wife Janie Miller Murphy; his children, Heather and Shane (Heidi) of Denver Colorado; his sister-in-law Jeanine Murphy of Anacortes; his cousin Pat Biegert of Shickley, Neb; and his close friends, Mike Hunsberger and David Ramsdell. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
