He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Downing and Josephine Downing (Lindner); his parents-in-law, Bill and Ruth Borders; his brother-in-law Randy Borders; his nephews, Greg McBride, Cory Whittaker and Blake Smith; and his great grandchild Brynlee Nicole.
He is survived by: his close friends, Scooby and Jake; his wife DeeDee of Broken Bow; his children, Brandi Sommer (Lance) of Broken Bow and Ryan Downing (Jess) of Aurora; his grandchildren, Alyssa Burr (Morgan) of Kearney and Kaiden Downing of Aurora; his great grandchildren, Kayla Burr and Nevaeh Lewis of Kearney; his sister Betty McBride (Bud) of Ainsworth; and his siblings-in-law, Steve Borders (Gina) of Sutton, Scott Borders (Carol) of Scottsbluff and Laurie Sheridan (Barry) of Sutton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
