He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Smydra and Millie Smydra (Starkey); his sister Joyce Smydra; his brother-in-law Ernie Kosmicki; his son-in-law Stan Risinger; and also Henry Obermiller.
He is survived by: his wife Cecelia Kosmicki; his children, Daniel Smydra (Cara), David Smydra (Natasha), Dennis Smydra (Tara), Joseph Smydra (Kerin), Michael Smydra, Theresa Smydra Risinger, Nancy Mosier (Clark), Susan Smydra (Ray Paslawski) and Tammy Timms (Randy); his sister Joanne Rieker (Wayne); his grandchildren, Loren Smydra (Allana), Kyle Smydra (Katie), Rachelle Beideck (Blake), Venessa Petersen (Tyler), Kordel Smydra, Ross Mosier, Ryan Mosier (Dannica), Josh Mosier, Garrison Krotz (Madeleine), Celia Timms, Brittain Timms (Cassidy), Megan Zimmerman (David), Callista Kaminski (Peter), Wyatt Smydra, Kale Smydra and Karina Smydra; his great grandchildren, Ella, Bentley, Jasper, Alice, Jack, Scarlett, Lucas, Madison, Emma and Dylan; and his nephew Jeff Townsend (Cayle).
Memorials are suggested to the Volunteer Fire Departments and EMTs of Dannebrog, Boelus, Farwell, and Elba; and also to Heart of the Nation Catholic Mass.
