He was predeceased by: his parents, Reuben Stehl and Beulah Stehl; his parents-in-law, Dick Burkey and June Burkey; and his brothers-in-law, Larry Burkey and Bob Acker.

He is survived by: his children, Kevin, Angela and Kellie; his wife Dot Stehl of Bertrand; his grandchildren, Dusty Stehl (Mollie Bartlett) of Omaha, Brandon Stehl (Janelle) of Kearney, Shelby Stehl of McCook, Riley Stehl of Bertrand, Shane Wissmann (Leah) of Grand Island and Skylar Langenberg (Derek) of Minden; his great grandchildren, Breelyn Langenberg of Minden and Bennett Stehl of Kearney; his sister Jan Lilyhorn (Dale) of Raymond; his siblings-in-law, Bill Burkey (Jan Lindgren) of Lincoln, Brian Burkey of Lincoln, Roberta Dunse (Maynard) of Republican City, Susan Anderson (Ron) of Solon, Peggy Kahler (Lynn Otto) of Arapahoe, Marilyn Burkholder (James) of Loomis, Beverly Binning (Dave) of Missouri Valley and Mary Acker of Edgerton; and also, Beulah Stehl (Dyer), Kevin Stehl (Sara) of Bertrand, Angie DeFilipps (Charlie) of Smithfield and Kellie Stehl of Holdrege.
