He was predeceased by: his parents, George Johnson and Helen Johnson (Schreiter); his son J. P. Johnson; and his sister Darlene Fetters. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Johnson of Bertrand; his daughter Cathy Watson (Brett) of Lexington, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Payton, Emmett and Logan Watson; and his brothers-in-law, Floyd Fetters of Holdrege, Don Beiriger (Pat) of Norfolk, Nebraska and John Beiriger (Linda) of Hastings, Nebraska. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home (401 Burlington St, Holdrege, NE 68949). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
A memorial has been established in Ernie's honor, and kindly suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
