He was predeceased by: his parents, Orris Cheney and Esther Cheney (Chambers); his wife Ruby Schaefer; and his siblings, Dale (Mabel), Glenn (Letha), Eugene (Esther), Raymond (Lowell Cheney), Francis Cheney and Eilene Renter.
He is survived by: his children, Arlene Dowding (Ron), Janet Baldwin (Alan), Dennis Cheney (Judy) and Lois Essink (Larry); his grandchildren, Jana Docter (Brad), Nathan Dowding (Lisa), Chad Baldwin (Cassandra), Brandi Pflughaupt (Kevin), Amanda Lahm (Pat), Ethan Essink, Thomas Cheney (Elizabeth), Tess Cheney, Jamie Velte (Jarod) and Kara Beecham (Quinn); his great grandchildren, Bailey, Tayler, Sydney, Dillon Docter, Hailey, Tinley, Piper Dowding, Ruby, Kale Pflughaupt, Elijah, Ezra Baldwin, Hope, Mary Cheney, Barrett, Baylor Beecham, Dalton Essink and Pete Lahm; his grandson Justin Cheney; and his brother-in-law Henry Kirchhoff Jr.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
