He was predeceased by: his parents, David Albert and Manila Alfreda Merklin (Osborn); his siblings, Audrey (White), Donovan Merklin, Stanley Merklin and Phyllis (Gray); his wife Arlene; his son David O II; and his great grandchild Annabelle Grace Bryan.
He is survived by: his children, Gina Hunt (Carl) of St. Francis, Kansas, Arletta Craw, Darin Edwards of Columbus, Georgia and Frank Merklin (Candie) of Benkelman; and his grandchildren, Holly Bryan (Dustin Bryan), Stephane (Mike Workman), Cara (Ryan Agan) and Jasper Hunt.
