He was predeceased by: his parents, James Jackson Mitchell Sr. and Rena Mae Mitchell (Hays); and his siblings, Gerald Mitchell, Clarence Mitchell, Margaret Wagner, Ann Harris and Audrey Piner.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Florence Herrington; his daughter Linda Hauenstein (Keith) of Bellevue, NE; and his granddaughters, Alexandra Seals (Robert) and Emma Woods (Logan). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family suggests Memorials to the Humane Society.
