He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Martin and Thelma May Showalter (Myers); his son David Allen; and his sister Deanna. He is survived by: his wife Sherryl "Jean" Showalter of North Platte; his children, Steven Showalter (Angela) of Plattsmouth and Heather Cox (Brian) of North Platte; his grandchildren, Natalie Clutter (Eelijah) of West Virginia, Austin Showalter of Plattsmouth, Jerry of North Platte, Samuel of North Platte and Toby Cox of North Platte; and his siblings, Mike Showalter (Mary), Monte Showalter (Dianne) and Rebecca Anderson.

“Earth's loss is Heaven's gain. Our 13 years with Pastor David Showalter left us with many wonderful memories. When reading through my husband's Bible after his passing, in I Thessalonians 4:16 "the dead in Christ shall rise first", I found a notation where he had written "first class". Pastor Showalter has been issued his flight to glory in the "first class" section. May God comfort you and give you strength for each day until we see them both again. It won't be long!
