He was predeceased by: his parents, James Upton and Grace Upton (Miller); his parents-in-law, Wallace and Helen Bolte; his grandson Wallace Angel; his brother Gerald Upton; his nephew Doug Brader; his niece Lori Nordmeyer (Upton); and his siblings-in-law, Don Bolte, Marvin Bolte, William Wondercheck, Marvin Brader and Sharon Bolte.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Upton (Bolte); his children, Douglas (Donna Upton) of Beaver Crossing, NE, Debra Upton of Beaver Crossing, NE, Todd (Cheri Upton) and Marty (Kristen Upton); his grandchildren, James Upton, Brandi, Courtney, KayCee, Arissa, Madelynn and Julia Upton; his sisters, Adelia Brader (Upton) of Norfolk, NE and Opal Wondercheck (Upton) of Albion, NE.; and his sister-in-law Mary Bolte of Beaver Crossing, NE. He is also survived by nieces and nephews along with a lot of relatives and friends.
