He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Schroeder and Rosa Schroeder (Zimmermann); his parents-in-law, Ervin and Martha Haecker; his siblings, Marilyn Freese, Marlene Scheele and Allen Schroeder; his siblings-in-law, Richard Freese, Mel Meyer, Wayne Wiedergreen, Alice Wiedergreen, Charlotte Molzer, Darlene Meyer and Sharon Schroeder; his nephew Dion Higgins; and his great-nephew Seth Worster.

He is survived by: his wife Elaine Haecker; his children, Patricia Christian, Lynne Costin (John), Wesley Schroeder (Cari) and Scott Schroeder; his grandchildren, Heather Christian-Riley (Steve), Kendal Christian, Ethan Schroeder (Rachel), Nicholas Schroeder (Sarah), William Costin and Martha Costin; his great grandchildren, Aubrey, Ryan and Bethany Schroeder; his brother Gail Schroeder (Patti); and his siblings-in-law, Elaine "Liz" Schroeder, Gladys Yost (Marvin), Carol Hueske (Delbert), Linda Bleich (Dale), Dennis Haecker (Kathy), Randall Haecker and Ken Molzer. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church or Nebraska Evangelical Lutheran High School with the church elders in charge.
