He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Boosinger and Geneva Boosinger (Hart); his wife Rosalee Carel; his daughter Rosemary Summerlin; his son-in-law Mike Buhr; his granddaughters, Michelle Boosinger and Jenifer Parde; his great grandchild Shayla Layman; and his siblings-in-law, Bertha Norton (Harold), Donna Corey (Robert), Marilyn Barker (Bob) and Leonard Makepeace.
He is survived by: his children, Vernon "Butch" (Evelyn) of Crete, Elaine Buhr of Beatrice, Jim (Deb) of Beatrice and Mike (Janese) of Wymore; and his siblings-in-law, Bud Carel (Donita) of Vancouver, Washington and Beverly Makepeace of Independence, Iowa. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 25 great great grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion in care of the mortuary.
