He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Burns and Monica Burns (Rooney); his wife Norma Pohlman (Lacey); his children, Brian Burns and Dee Chubick; his siblings, John Burns (Shirley) and Frannie Hobbs; and his sisters-in-law, Sandy Burns, Bea Burns, Dorcas Pella and MaryAnn Damme.

He is survived by: his children, Patty Burns of Beatrice, Dean Pohlman (Leann) of Eagle and Larry Pohlman (Jean) of Syracuse; his son-in-law Jerry Chubick of Auburn; his brothers, Mike Burns (Elaine) of Stockton, CA, Tom Burns of Lincoln and Bob Burns (Jean) of Humboldt; and his siblings-in-law, Bob Pella of Beatrice, Wes Damme of Cook and Deborah Lacey of Florissant, CO. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.
