He was predeceased by: his parents, Harm Folkerts and Marie Folkerts (Paben); his granddaughter Jessica Nabity (Holtmeier); his parents-in-law, Adolf and Bessie Kulhanek; and his former wife Marian Bigalk (Jurgens).
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Folkerts (Kulhanek) of Beatrice; his children, Linda Holtmeier (Joel) of Diller, John Folkerts (Sherry) of Stanton, IA and Terry Folkerts (Melinda) of Georgetown, TX; his stepchildren, Charles Matulka of Beatrice, Dan Matulka (Lorella) of Beatrice and Theresa Litterick of Omaha; his grandchildren, Tina Graves (Drew), Sara Lucking (Brandon), Chris Folkerts (Katie), Ben Folkerts (Brenda), Tyler Folkerts (Madeline), Kaley Miller (Ethan), Justin Folkerts (Kara), Jake Folkerts (Courtney), Hollie Hoffmeyer (Blake), Emily Dykman (Josh), Addie Litterick, Michelle Lenners (Casey) and Craig Comer (Nicole); and his sister Verneel Noerrlinger (Bob). He is also survived by great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice and the Covid Unit at Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln with Rick and Chris Paben in charge.
