He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Burger and Lena Burger (Niemeyer); and his siblings, Ordale Burger and Verona Spilker. He is survived by: his wife Joan Brolhorst; his children, Phyl Burger of Woodbury, MN., Lyle Burger (Pamala) of Kearney and Kim Zellers (Mike) of Omaha; his grandchildren, Ryan Burger (Lisa) of Lincoln, Melissa Buckshire (Travis) of Butler, PA, Matt Burger of Axtell, Neil Zellers (Vickie) of Richmond, TX and Tyler Zellers of Manhattan, KS; and his siblings, Roland Burger of Treynor, IA, Bob Burger of Menomonee Falls, WI and Rose Blome (AlDean) of Hallam. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren.
A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer's Association or the First Trinity Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with the church elders in charge.
