He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie W. Gronewold and Esther I. Schuster Gronewold; his wife Shirley G. Wolken; his parents-in-law, George and Eleanor Harms Wolken; his brother Leonard Gronewold; and his sister-in-law Alveda Gronewold.
He is survived by: his children, Patty Thomas of Beatrice and Larry Gronewold of Beatrice; his grandchildren, Jeremy Thomas of Beatrice, Brittany Thomas of Omaha and Macy Gronewold of Beatrice; his brothers, Harlan Gronewold of Des Moines, IA and Daylon Gronewold (Diane) of Albuquerque, NM; his siblings-in-law, Caroline Gronewold of Beatrice and Gilbert Wolken (Deb) of Filley; and his pet Westie. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital with Gary and Judy Carstens in charge.
