He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Thornburg and Ruth Thornburg (Ellinger); his wife DeLores; his siblings, Kenneth Thornburg (Viola), Ruth Drake (Roland) and Ida Moore (George); and his sister-in-law Arlene Thornburg.
He is survived by: his children, Cynthia Cole (Randolph) of Wymore and Gregory Thornburg (Bridget) of Beatrice; his granddaughters, Rachael and Rozlyn Cole; his brother Vern Thornburg of Beatrice; and his siblings-in-law, LeRoy Swanda of Fremont, Darwin Swanda (Lila) of Lincoln, Loretta Sloup (Harvey) of Omaha, Maggie Blazek (Tom) of Lincoln, Heidi Swanda of Neuberg and Donau Germany. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the family for future designation.
