He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer George and Shirley George; his sister Gayle Bekemeyer; his siblings-in-law, Ruthie George and Jay Gudsnuk; and his father-in-law Edwin Folkerts.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Folkerts of Beatrice; his children, Chris George of Beatrice, Todd George (Kim) of Mico, TX and Michelle George of Beatrice; his grandchildren, Dylan George of Omaha and Madison Stephens-Fort of Mico, TX; his siblings, Mike George (Laurie) of Seward and Barbara Gudsnuk of Orono, ME; his mother-in-law Irene Folkerts of Beatrice; and his siblings-in-law, Greg Bekemeyer of Washington, KS, Larry Folkerts of Beatrice, Alan Folkerts (Kim) of Beatrice, Bob Folkerts (Cheryl) of Beatrice and Diane Folkerts of Lincoln. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Beatrice Humane Society and the Arbor Day Foundation.
