He was predeceased by: his parents, William Schwandt and Dora Ruth Schwandt; and his siblings, Edna (Merlin) and Roland (Mildred). He is survived by: his wife Mary; his son Nathan (Julie) of Rapid City; his grandchildren, Sarah Bumgardner (Chad), Paul Kaldahl (Molly), Eli Kaldahl (Abby), Whitney Fritzinger (Andy), Emily Czech (Kyle), Ross Bansen (Brenna), Christine McKee (Zach), Allison Pratt (Jesse) and Kaj Bansen (Sarah); and his great grandchildren, Rhedec, Ryker, Azalea Bumgardner, Avery, Stella Kaldahl, Stan, Gracie, John, Ali Kaldahl, Daniel, Lucy Czech, Brooks Bansen, Charlie, Josie McKee and Bobbi Pratt.
A prayer will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 10:45 AM to 11:00 AM at the St John Lutheran Church (701 N 6th St, Beatrice, NE 68310). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. John Lutheran Church (701 N 6th St, Beatrice, NE 68310).
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Wartburg Seminary, Carol Joy Holling Camp, or Tallgrass Philanthropy Fund in memory of Alton Schwandt.
