He was predeceased by: his parents, Gafford Showen and Ethel Showen (Sprague); his stepmother Margaret; his former wife Alice Johnson; his sisters, Maxine and Louise; his daughter-in-law Becky; his grandson Ronnie; and his great grandchild Josh.
He is survived by: his wife Alta Seefeld Hatzenbuehler; and his children, Donnie (Judy), David (Jody), Danny, Charles (Janice), Michael, Jeffrey (Teresa), Linda and Alicea. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
A memorial has been established to the DAV and helping Homeless Veterans.
