With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard Wayne Simmons of Bayard, Nebraska, who passed away on February 25, 2025 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Phillip Simmons and Edna Simmons (Reynolds); and his siblings, Donny Simmons, Bob Wiggins, Karen Simmons and Betty Warford.

He is survived by: his children, Robert Simmons (Lisa) of Gering, NE and Stacy Epling (Patrick) of Corvallis, MT; his grandchildren, Elijah Simmons of Hersey, NE, Brayton Simmons, Haven Simmons of Gering, NE, Jennah, Briella and Trevin Epling of Corvallis, MT.; his siblings, Sandy Abel of Scottsbluff, NE, Pat Hutchison of Cheyenne, WY and James Simmons of Cibolo, TX.; and his extended family Cindy Schanhols (Gary) of Bayard, NE. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends.

The military honors was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Bayard Memorial Cemetery (118 E 8th St, Bayard, NE 69334). A reception was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Bayard American Legion (436 Main St, Bayard, NE 69334).

You will be so missed and your sense of humor. God has his special mechanic now. We will all see you again. I will miss our conversations and I was blessed to have you in my life.”
