He was predeceased by: his brother Rod; and his uncle Charlie Strelow of Bassett, Nebraska.. He is survived by: his parents, Dennis R. Cook of Ainsworth and Susan E. Cook (Ford) of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; his brother Dennis R. (Rod); his wife Ann Weller; his stepchildren, Jessamyne L Cook and Decker R. Cook; his children, Cheyenne, Skyler and Darby Jr.; his sister Elizabeth Hemmer (Tony); and his nieces and nephews, Ember and Carsyn of Plattsmouth. He is also survived by many friends and a large extended family.
