He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Leonard and Cynthia Gerdes (Volker); his grandparents, Otto, Helen Volker, Leonard and Pearle Gerdes; his mother-in-law Patricia McMahon; his brothers-in-law, Derek Behrends and Michael Soto; and his nephew Damian Gerdes.
He is survived by: his wife Dana King; his children, Cedric (Celia), Eliah, Alerik, Josias, Levi, Malachi, Sophia and Isabella; his siblings, Jeremy (Jana), Philip (Crystal), Nathaniel (Alecia), Michelle Hoff (Douglas) and Randall (Kelly); his father-in-law Duane King (Kathie); and his siblings-in-law, Jarod King (Kyisha), Springer Hendricks and Melissa Soto-Baker.
