He was predeceased by: his parents, William Fernau and Evelyn Fernau (Knapp); his wife Nancy; his children, Kenny J. Fernau Jr. and Annabethlynn Fernau; his sister-in-law Karen K. Fernau; and his granddaughter Kara Brianne Fernau.

He is survived by: his children, Kim Boudreaux (Percy) of Beaumont, TX, Howard Fernau (Tammy) of Norfolk, William Fernau (Kailey) of Stanton, Angela Pfeiffer (Jim) of Lincoln, Tara Johnson-Jameson of Holdrege and Nicole Campbell (Kyle) of Inman; and his siblings, Kerry Fernau of Ainsworth, Kane Fernau (Deb) of Nashville and Karen Knepper (Sam) of Butte. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to his family for future designation.
