He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Eileen Gokie and Conrad Gokie; his wife Marilyn Kramer; his children, James J. Gokie (Patty), Jeffery L. Gokie (Cathy), Janell Rossman (Truman) and Jillyn Kratochvil (Chris); his brother Dean Gokie of Carthage, MO; and his siblings-in-law, Ray Shaffer of Atkinson, NE and Elaine Gokie. He was also cherished by 11 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
