He was predeceased by: his parents, Maude May (Dailey) and Herman F. DeGroff; his wife Geraldine Hanel of John's Lutheran Church; his siblings, Cecil, Bert, Gerald, Jay DeGroff, Eleanor Senn, Florence Kelley White, Dolorous Warner, Alice, Bessie Krutz and Cleora Dierks; and his granddaughter DeAnna Strand.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sheila Strand of Amelia, NE, Sheryl DeGroff of Atkinson, NE and Sharlene Buss (Jim) of Atkinson, NE; his grandchildren, Dayna Hamel (Jesse), DeLynn Strand, Jade, Cale, Cort, Reid and Brett Buss; his great grandchild Matthew Hamel; and his stepgreat-grandson Luke Hamel. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
