He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Pelt and Vera Van Pelt; his former wife Marian Anderson; his children, Beth Louise, Thomas Leonard Van Pelt and Alan Van Pelt; his grandson Dylan Dwaine Van Pelt; and his siblings, DeWitt Van Pelt, Roger Van Pelt and Betty Duncan.
He is survived by: his wife Carmen Dean of Archer; his children, Sue Krug (Norm) of Chapman, Anne Gillespie (David) of Lincoln, David Van Pelt (Melanie) of Lincoln, Doug Van Pelt (Donnette) of Central City, Daniel Van Pelt (Tonya) of Grand Island, Carol Van Pelt of Colorado Springs, CO and Robin Glisson of Knoxville, TN; his siblings, Rhoda Seiler of Axtell, Judy Anderson of Axtell, Nora Lindner of Central City, Sharlene Reise of Grand Island and Steve Van Pelt of Archer; and his sister-in-law Norma Van Pelt of Central City. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family would like the memorials suggested to Archer Memorial Park, Central City United Methodist Church or to the family to be used for future community educational purposes.
