He was predeceased by: his grandson Travis Slingsby; his daughter-in-law Mary Jo Slingsby; his parents, Edgar Slingsby and Doris Slingsby; his sisters, LaVonne McDonald (Joe) and Lorene Stahlberg; his parents-in-law, John Shepherd and Goldie Shepherd (Hurlburt); and his brothers-in-law, Phillip Shepherd, Dennis Shepherd and Ralph Shepherd.

He is survived by: his wife Evelyn of Ansley; his children, Gaylene Wiseman (Dean) of Kearney, Dean Slingsby of Naponee, Marlin Slingsby (Ann) of Kearney and Wayne Slingsby (Deb) of Arcadia; his siblings, Bernard Slingsby (Barb) of Grand Island and Charlotte Schnacker (Lonny) of Kearney; his siblings-in-law, Leland Shepherd (Marge), Violet Nietfeldt (Myron), Donna Shepherd and Mel Shepherd (Deb); and also Ester Shepherd. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren.
