He was predeceased by: his parents, Jeremiah Clifford Geist and Alta Maxine McIntosh (Casteel). He is survived by: his wife Rae Anne Geist (Rohrbouck); his sons, Rod Geist (Teri), Rich Geist of Salem, OR and Russ Geist (Rhonda); his grandchildren, Zach Geist (Caroline), Noah Geist, Seth Geist (Madison), Bethany Bohne (Trent), Nick Geist, Shad Geist and Sam Geist; and his siblings, Delores M. Evans (Geist) and Clifford M. "Butch" McIntosh. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given in care of Richard to the Community Table in Alliance, and Northwest Community Action Partnership in Alliance.
