He was predeceased by: his wife Verna; his daughter Karen Delsing; and his daughter-in-law Donaleen. He is survived by: his children, Calvin Messersmith (Lois) of Fargo, ND, Shirley Messersmith, Holdrege, Keith Messersmith, Ellsworth, Sondra Burnett (Loren), Columbus, Ken G. Messersmith, Kearney, Tom Messersmith (Sara) and Alliance; his son-in-law Bob Delsing; and also, Beverly Gleason and Lyle Govig. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church or Dobby's Frontier Town.
