He was predeceased by: his parents, David Romick and Blanche Romick (Meier); his son-in-law John Nielson; and his granddaughter Kimber Romick. He is survived by: his wife Norma Brunkhardt; his children, Lora Herian (John), Amy Nielson and Chris Romick (Leslie); his grandchildren, Rhett Herian (Kelsea Storkel), Jakob Herian (Adriana), Caleb Nielson (Shelby Grimes), Kristen Romick (Dayde Belknap) and Bret Schwaderer (Rylee); his great grandchild Asher Herian; and his sister Phyllis Henkel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
